Science is the systematic study of the structure and behavior of the physical and natural world through observation and experimentation. Technology is the application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes that most often lead to the benefit of people. The intersection of science and technology is engineering.

Engineering is the branch of study that uses the discoveries of science, technological tools, creativity, and ingenuity to design, build, and use engines, machines, structures, or software. While this definition may seem broad, engineers employ methodologies that can be learned and practiced. These methodologies and their use in the various fields of engineering will be the focus of this course.

Students in this course will investigate the broad spectrum of engineering fields as well as introductory concepts in each branch. Students will then use engineering practices and perspectives to solve problems. These problems will be presented in the form of collaborative projects that require students to engage in design, planning, communication, and proper ethics.
