AP Music Theory is like taking the first two semesters of a college music theory course. You’ll build skills in reading, writing, hearing, and understanding music through activities in notation, dictation, sight-singing, harmony, and analysis. The class focuses on helping you gain fluency with the basics so that you can recognize and explain how music works—both on the page and by ear.

The course is asynchronous, which means you can work around your school schedule, but it requires steady weekly effort. I’ll provide assignments, practice drills, and feedback to keep you on track, and I’m also available for live support when needed. By the end of the year, you’ll be ready for the AP Music Theory Exam in the spring and prepared for future music study.
